These NEW electronically (PLC) controlled 1500 series machines evolved from the manufacturers well proven 500 (A&B) family of volumetric fillers which are specifically designed for automated multiple head (in-line) filling applications requiring a high degree of versatility. Available in two, four, six or eight head configuration, these units are extremely robust, and suitable for filling most types of container in the range 50ml to 5 litres.

Precision bored metering cylinders up to 1200mm diameter (max 2.6 litre) may be fitted to two and four head machines - these enable efficient filling of containers up to 5 litre capacity with a double stroke, while retaining exceptional accuracy when filling smaller volumes. Product may be handled hot or cold, and volumetric accuracy is usually well within 0.5%. Due to the general compactness of the 1500A series frame, maximum metering cylinder capacity on six and eight head machines is limited to 800ml and 500ml respectively. A wider (1500C) frame is available for larger fills.

A single large pneumatic cylinder drives the metering cylinders via s system of levers and a heavy rocker shaft. Volume adjustment is achieved by controlling the stroke of this cylinder with a contra-piston, using a convenient manual adjustment or (optionally) an electric servo motor. The use of a contra-piston increases energy efficiency as the drive cylinder volume (and hence compressed air consumption) is reduced proportionally when filling smaller containers. An optional micro adjustment is available to provide a degree of individual adjustment to each metering cylinder. A secondary filling speed control may be used to slow down the fill rate as product level rises into the container neck.

All machines are manufactured to strict hygiene standards - wetted parts, manufactured from T316 stainless steel or suitable plastics, may be easily disassembled when inplace cleaning is not applicable. A range of non-drip shut off nozzles enables exceptionally clean filling of most products, with sub surface fill option available for efficient filling of foaming products. A unique (optional) side shift mechanism allows the nozzles to be positioned over a drip tray during container indexing, and also facilitates the use of neck guides for unstable bottles.

Product flow is directed by a large capacity pneumatically actuated rotary valve system flange mounted directly to the metering cylinders, allowing passage of viscous products and products containing pieces up to 10mm across. Intake ports are connected to a hopper mounted to the rotary valve or, in some cases, directly to bulk supply via a manifold. Shut off nozzles are connected to the delivery ports via a flexible hose, which allows movement for adjustment to accommodate a wide variety of container dimensions - and for vertical and horizontal travel when B/U fill and/or side shift options are used.

The standard pneumatic gating mechanism enables efficient handling of most containers an optional electrically driven star-wheel gating system is also available, which reduces shock and noise (and hence the risk of chipping or breakage) when handling glass containers.

Features include:
• Available as a twin head (model 1525) or in multiple heads (models 1545, 1565, 1585),
• Volume range 50ml to 5000ml with 6 metering cylinder options,
• PLC control of pneumatic components with container sensor initiation,
• Standard multiple stroke mechanism for larger fills accessed by the operator keypad,
• Filling rate (cpm) and production count data can be accessed and recorded,
• Product supply to the filler via a 50 or 80 litre conical hopper or suction hose,
• A wide range of non-drip shut off nozzles is available with different outlets,
• Optional sub surface filling mechanism and nozzles for filling foaming products,
• Often used as a fully automatic inline filler with a conveyor and container indexing,
• Hopper level control and product feed pump to keep the hopper full,
• Secondary filling speed feature for slower filling of long neck containers,
• 2 frame sizes: standard width and wider frame for much larger metering cylinders,
• Star wheel gating for indexing glass bottles reducing shock noise and chipping,
• Micro adjustor to provide individual adjustment to each metering cylinder,
• Gantry lifting device to assist in the removal of heavy components for cleaning.
