This machine was designed for pitting previously stemmed and graded sweet cherries, morello cherries and sour cherries. Has a throughput of approx 600 kg/hr (depending on cherry size) with a speed of 38 to 44 strokes/min and is 60 cherries per stroke wide. Fruit to be pitted may be either fresh or in brine (SO2) for preserving in syrup, alcohol, maraschino or candied. This machine virtually leaves no trace of pitting on fruit as it takes out the pit from the stem end, thus producing whole cherries with no wasted pulp or broken stone.

Can be fed either manually with boxes, or automatic through a belt elevator with automatic orienting system. The unit operates by taking stemmed and graded cherries which are gently tipped onto a feeding belt or directly into the pitter / destoner feeding hopper and are then transferred onto the main conveyor consisting of a system of trays. Thanks to the automatic orienting system, cherries are lined up vertically, stem-end down, and therefore go through the pitting head where they are very quickly pitted by means of special pins 7mm in diameter. Pitted cherries are thus discharged through the hopper in the back. Clean pits are released through a side outlet.

The pitter may be easily retooled to pit cherries of different sizes, with overall diameter range from 14mm to 30mm. It may also be equipped with a special halving kit that allows pitting and vertically halving cherries in one single operation.

Requires an overall power consumption for 4 motors of 2.75hp, 380V and has an IP 55 protection class. Also requires a water consumption of 120 litres/hour through an (approx) 3/8 inch gas pipe.

Characteristics:

1) Automatic centering devices, to place cherries in vertical position with stem-junction down. Being cherries in this position, pits are ejected by punches through the point where stem was attached, reducing the quantity of pulp that normally stay stuck to the pit
2) Equipped with 60 punches 5 stars 8mm Ø or (optional) 6 stars 9.5mm Ø in stainless steel AISI 316, properly installed on the pitting head
3) Equipped with one set of ordinary plates to choose between 19-22-26mm Ø or (optional) enlarged plates to choose between 20-24-28-30mm Ø
4) Exit of the pits through proper chute, independent from exit of pitted cherries.

Construction in stainless steel AISI and all components in contact with the product are food grade materials. Machine is provided with spare parts kit (rubbers, pins, punches…)
